Classroom News

Year 1 Cockatoos and Kangaroos
The first two weeks of Year One have been a busy and exciting time for the children as they settle into new routines and learn to work independently at their own desks.
Everyone has been practising listening carefully, following classroom expectations, and becoming more confident in their new learning environment. In Religion, we have begun learning about the Church and exploring what it means to belong to a faith community.
In Literacy, the children are developing their skills in turning oral language into written sentences, sharing ideas aloud and then recording them in their books, as well as practising correct letter formation through handwriting using dotted thirds.
In Maths, we are revising numbers, counting carefully, and making collections to strengthen number recognition and understanding. We are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead!
Year 2 Echidnas and Platypuses
The Year Twos have got off to a wonderful start getting to know our new routines, teachers and friends. So far, we have enjoyed sharing our holiday memories, playing Mathematics games, discussing how important our families are to us, and reading stories with buddies in class. We have been very responsible this past week, leading by example for the Year One’s at lunch time play.
We have enjoyed listening to the story of 'Clara the Adventurous Goanna' in English which has some new vocabulary and we’ve also been doing some writing about our summer memories. We’ve been learning about tally marks in Mathematics, taking a tally of some of the flowers we see around the school and playing games inside our classroom.
In HASS we have been learning about the states and territories of Australia and some special features that can be found in each. In Health we have been revising our Student Code of Conduct so that our classrooms can be our safe, happy and respectful place where we love learning!
