Curriculum Corner

The 2026 Italian Winter Olympics have begun in Milano and Cortina, Italy. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to make real-world connections with our Italian learning program and to see how language, culture and geography come together.
If you have time at home, I encourage you to watch some of the events with your child. As you watch, you might like to listen for the Italian language, look at the Italian flags and colours (verde, bianco e rosso), and talk about the different sports being played in the snow and mountains. Many of the locations are in northern Italy near the Alps, where winter weather makes these sports possible.
The Olympic Games promote important values such as persistence, teamwork, respect, courage and endurance - all wonderful qualities to nurture in your child. We will also be exploring aspects of the Olympics in our Italian lessons, including simple vocabulary related to countries, sports and celebrations.
Thank you for supporting your child’s learning and curiosity about the world.
