Tree Planting Ceremony Strengthens Ballarat–Inagawa Sister City Bonds
On Monday, 30 March 2026, a special Tree Planting Ceremony was held at Ballarat Town Hall to mark the replacement of the main tree in the Inagawa Sister City Garden. The event celebrated the enduring friendship between Ballarat and its Japanese sister city, Inagawa.
The ceremony symbolised renewal and growth within the long-standing relationship between the two communities. Representatives from local organisations, schools, and the City of Ballarat gathered to witness the planting of the new tree, continuing a tradition that highlights cultural exchange and environmental stewardship.
Among the attendees was Rosalie, winner of the 2025 Year 10 Japanese Speech Contest in Ballarat. Rosalie represented Year 10 students (in 2025) who study Japanese and actively support the sister‑city relationship. Her presence reflected the strong educational and cultural ties fostered through language learning and exchange programs.
This event not only reaffirmed Ballarat’s commitment to international friendship but also showcased the enthusiasm of young people like Rosalie, whose achievements and participation embody the spirit of global connection and mutual respect.
