Year 10 Subject Expo and Parent Information Evening

On Wednesday 27 May, our annual Year 10 Subject Expo and Parent Information Evening was held in the Mary’s Mount Centre and Gonzaga Barry Centre. During the school day, students attended the Subject Expo as part of their STRIVE lesson and had the opportunity to listen to information and ask questions regarding their VCE or VCE-VM pathway for Year 11 in 2027. Then in the evening, Year 10 students and their parents attended the information evening which provided an overview of VCE at Loreto College and our two pathways:  VCE Units 1 – 4 and VCE-VM.  Information was also provided regarding VETDSS (Vocational Education & Training Delivered to Secondary Students).

These experiences are designed to support our students to make subject choices for Year 11 that enable the best learning outcomes for them in their senior academic studies.

Students are encouraged to carefully read the Senior Pathways booklet and to discuss options with their parents and teachers.

Upcoming assessments and Year 10 and Year 11 examinations

Year 10 and 11 exams begin next week on Thursday 4 June.

As we approach the final weeks of Semester 1, I would like to remind all students and families of the importance of upcoming assessment tasks and Year 10 and 11 exams. This is a significant period in the learning cycle, where students have the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding, consolidate their skills, and reflect on their progress.

Consistent preparation, effective study habits, and careful organisation of time will be key to finishing the term strongly. We encourage students to seek feedback, ask questions, and make use of the support available from their teachers. Small, steady efforts each day can make a meaningful difference in both confidence and achievement.

For parents and caregivers, your encouragement and support at home play an invaluable role. Establishing a quiet study space, maintaining routines, and promoting balance between study and wellbeing will help students remain focused and resilient during this busy time.
