Principal's Report

Term 2, 2026

Alan Marr College Principal

As we conclude Term 2 and the first half of the 2026 school year, I am proud to reflect on the energy and achievement that characterise Dromana College.

Our students have again demonstrated a strong commitment to their learning, supported by dedicated staff and an engaged school community. I commend all students on their efforts throughout the term and sincerely thank our families for the continued support you provide each day.

The exam period for our Year 10, 11, and 12 students was conducted smoothly and professionally. We were particularly impressed by the focus and maturity shown during these assessments. For the students who are undertaking a Unit 3 & 4 subject, the recent General Achievement Test (GAT) marked an important milestone in their VCE journey. I encourage all students to reflect on their performance, seek feedback, and work closely with their teachers to set clear, purposeful goals for Semester 2.

Beyond the classroom, Term 2 has been rich with cultural, creative and sporting opportunities. Asia Week was once again a standout celebration and full of community spirit. The Year 8 Food and Culture evenings were another highlight, offering a vibrant showcase of student engagement and learning.

Our Performing Arts program continues to thrive, with soirees, and music events all highlighting the exceptional creativity of our students. Most recently, our College Musical “GREASE” was a tremendous success, playing to sold-out audiences at the Frankston Arts Centre. With more than 120 students involved as cast, crew and musicians, the production showcased the extraordinary talent, dedication and teamwork of our young people. On behalf of the College community, I extend my sincere congratulations and thanks to every student, staff member, volunteer and family member who contributed to this remarkable achievement.

Sport remains a strong pillar of life at Dromana College from outstanding performances in Cross Country, Aerobics and Interschool Competitions to our role as host of the State School Cycling event and Mountain Bike Race, students have demonstrated incredible resilience, teamwork and determination. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff team who made these events possible, and congratulations to all participating students.

As we approach the break, we send our best wishes to the students and staff embarking on our Central Australia tour. Such experiences are rich in learning, cultural exchange and personal growth, and we look forward to hearing about your adventures upon your return.

As Semester 2 begins, I encourage all students to embrace the fresh start it brings—whether by striving for academic improvement, stepping outside their comfort zone, or supporting a peer. Every small step forward contributes to our shared success.

I wish all students, staff and families a safe, restful and enjoyable term break and look forward to a fantastic term 3.
