F-Block Dance Extension Filming

Our Year 10 and Year 11 F-Block Dance Extension students have been immersed in the creative process this term, developing original choreography and working collaboratively to create their dance film.

In week 2, students travelled to Seawinds Gardens in Arthurs Seat, where the vibrant autumn colours and picturesque landscapes provided the perfect backdrop for filming. Students performed and captured their original choreography amongst the stunning natural surroundings, with a surprise kangaroo cameo adding to the experience.

Later in week 5, students headed to McClelland Sculpture Park in Langwarrin. Surrounded by nature and magnificent outdoor sculptures, students found inspiration in their environment as they captured the next stage of their dance film project. Their choreography and performance work blended beautifully with the unique setting.

We look forward to two final filming sessions in Term 3 before completing our 2026 Dance Film.

Semester 1 Dance Performance Evening

In week 6, we proudly showcased performances from our Year 9 -10 Dance students, along with Dance Club. The evening featured a diverse range of dance works.

Act One featured the Year 9 and 10 Dance class performing. They performed their learnt dances and student choreographies.

Act Two featured the Year 11 and 12 VCE Dance students. They performed their Skills-based solos and learnt dance.

The evening concluded with an energetic performance from our Dance Club students. The students from Years 7–12 meet each Tuesday morning to rehearse and share their passion for dance, with support from Ms Jennii Johnson, Ms Lily Snow and Ms Taryn Sabell.

Their performance of 'Just Keep Watching'was a high-energy modern jazz routine choreographed by Dance Captains Lucaya Stent and Hailey Krongold. This dance provided a vibrant and entertaining finale to our showcase.

Sydney Dance Company Workshop

In week 6, we were thrilled to host the internationally acclaimed Sydney Dance Company. Two company artists delivered an engaging 90-minute workshop, providing students with the opportunity to learn repertoire and choreographic tasks from the company.

Students had the unique opportunity to learn repertoire from Love Lock, a work currently being performed by Sydney Dance Company. They embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and focus, demonstrating impressive determination, resilience and skill throughout the workshop. The experience provided valuable insight into the demands of professional dance and was one that students are sure to remember for years to come.

Grease – School Musical

After eight months of dedicated rehearsals, hard work and commitment, 120 Dromana College students proudly took to the stage for our spectacular production of Grease. Performed at Frankston Arts Centre, the production provided students with an incredible opportunity to develop their performance skills and experience working in a professional theatre environment.

A highlight of the production was the work of our three dance troupes, who performed multiple show-stopping dance numbers throughout the show. Many of these routines were choreographed by our senior dance students, showcasing their creativity, leadership and choreographic talent.

Excursion – Bangarra Dance Theatre

We concluded the term with an exciting excursion to the Arts Centre Melbourne, where students attended a performance of Sheltering by the internationally acclaimed Bangarra Dance Theatre.

This powerful triple-bill explored themes of Country, culture and connection through contemporary Indigenous storytelling and movement. The performance was both engaging and inspiring, providing students with the opportunity to experience the artistry and innovation of one of Australia’s leading contemporary dance companies live on stage.
