The P-2 classes have begun to learn about basic coding. Students used the Beet-Bots to code a simple sequence of movements. The 1-2 classes had to create an obstacle course or board game for their Bee-bot. The Preps build a house for their Bee-bot to sleep in once they completed the obstacle course. This was a lot of fun.

The 3/4 classes are learning about Digital Technology, involving coding. This fortnight we have explored the application, Minecraft to create a flat world. Minecraft is a great gaming platform that uses code, by creating blocks. Most groups chose to create a Theme Park or a Farm. The aim was to make it as real life as possible. Students shared their finished worlds in a learning walk.

The 5/6 classes are learning about Digital Technology, using a range of platforms to code. We began by learning about Binary Code. Each letter is represented by 8 digits, which are a 0-1. E.g. 01000001 = A. Students needed to code their name and a secret message, which they then had to decipher. Students then moved into Turtle Graphics. This is an online platform that uses code to create an image/pattern. Each command provides the Turtle with a movement, direction, colour, angle.
