Foundation

We’ve had another wonderful week in Foundation! In Maths, we’ve been developing our understanding of numbers by exploring how they can be broken up in different ways (partitioning). The children have loved using a variety of hands-on materials such as five and ten frames, counters, dominoes, and dice to support their learning.

In the photos below, you’ll see the children investigating how many different ways they can make 10, as well as discussing the different parts that combine to form this number. We also practised recalling number combinations that make 10. These activities are helping to build strong number sense, providing an important foundation for the children’s future understanding and manipulation of numbers. We hope you have a beautiful weekend with friends and family and we'll see you in Week 3!

Year 1

Hey everyone,

We have had another wonderful week of learning! It was so lovely to spend time in the library today, we are very lucky to have Prem, our kind and friendly librarian. Featured below is a photo of the children enjoying their time in the library.

I would also like to thank families for bringing in items from home for our Inquiry unit. This will be incredibly helpful as we continue our learning later in the term, thank you so much for your support.

Have a great weekend!

😊Terri

Year 2

Hello Families,

We are made a lot of memories this past week celebrating fun times. Birthday wishes go to Kerthly and Max, and congratulations to Jaimee and Elena for their awards. We continued our studies (Inquiry) learning about the properties of materials and beginning our unit in recyling. (Math) The class are doing well understanding place value to the thousands  and in (Religion and Well Being) making good choices each day. Ahead, we look forward to Yichen's birthday  next week, and we will go on an excursion May 12th, that focuses on ''Zero Waste''

Year 3/4 T & Year 3/4AL

It has been an interesting week exploring how literacy devices are used in Poetry and attempting to incorporate what we have learned into our own writing. Using 'The Eagle' by Lord Tennyson as inspiration, students explored alliteration, rhythm and rhyme and how stanzas are used in poems. They attempted to write stanzas of 3 lines each and as an extra challenge, include a simile to describe their animal.

Monkeys

Monkeys are super fun,

Monkeys are fast when they run,

Monkeys like running in the sun.

They climb trees easy,

Monkeys are lazy,

Bananas make them go crazy!

The Shima-Enaga

The bird is really white, it is small in height,

Really warm in the darkest night,

They will be active when it's light.

The bird is definitely fluffy,

It may be honestly puffy,

It is certainly, genuinely stuffy.

The Dingo

He is marigold and brown,

He is shiny like a crown,

He hunts when the sun goes down.

He sniffs with his black nose,

You should never go close,

He will hunt you, I suppose.

Year 5/6 J

In Inquiry this week, students have begun to unpack and think about what they buy, use and comsume in their daily lives. They showed their thinking by making some awesome posters! Check some of them out below.

In addition, we also began to look at and investigate where our clothes come from before they reach the shops. It has been great to see students so inquisitive and interested in these topics!

Year 5/6 M

In R.E. this term, students are learning about saints. A saint is a special friend of God who lived a holy life and now lives with God in heaven. The Church calls some holy people, “saints.” The Church wants us to know their stories because saints did everything for God. Saints are heroes of our faith.
