STEAM
Over the last few sessions in STEAM, the Year 5/6 students have been working on 'One Point Perspective' drawings.
Layla - I have had lots of fun drawing One Point Perspective drawings. All the drawings turned out great and I hope we do an activity again. I hope we can also make clay sculptures.
Chloe - STEAM is one of my favourite subjects because we do art. In art we have been doing lots of drawings such as our doodle drawing, and our One Point Perspective drawing. I found it to be really creative and everyone's drawings are different. I’m looking forward to working with clay soon.
Callix - Its my first time making my drawing look like it is 3D and I really enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to doing more art and Steam.
Austin - In STEAM we did an activity on One Point Perspective. The drawing is of a road with a car, buildings, trees and the sky. We drew in gray lead and then went over the outline with texta and then coloured it in. I love it! I enjoyed doing it.
Amy - My class and I were drawing a One Point Perspective drawing. When we were doing it, it was so nice.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
For the first half of term 2, our students will continue to work on developing their coordination and teamwork skills as we focus on basketball.
From week 6 to week 9, we will be visited by coaches from AFL Victoria who will lead sessions during PE lessons. All of our students will have the opportunity to participate, and I look forward to supporting them as they do so.
Throughout the term, many of our year 5 and 6 students will be participating in inter-school sporting matches held weekly on Friday mornings. Well done to the students who chose to get involved and represent our school!
ITALIAN
In our Italian language classes this term, the Grade 2 students have been learning about la famiglia (the family), an important part of Italian culture. They have been introduced to simple vocabulary such as la mamma, il papà, il fratello and la sorella, and are beginning to talk about their own families in Italian.
Students are also learning how to describe family members using adjectives, and how these adjectives change to match whether the person is male or female. For example, they can now say sentences like:“Questa è mia mamma. È gentile e bella.” or “Questo è mio papà. È alto e forte.”
Through these activities, students are developing an understanding that in Italian, words need to match (agree) with the person they are describing. This is an important step in building their confidence in both speaking and writing.
We have also been enjoying singing songs about la famiglia with Mr Oopy and practising our speaking skills through repetition and simple conversations about family members.
Arrivederci per adesso!
