Prayer

Loving God,

Help us to live with kindness and care each day.

Guide us to treat others with respect,

to include those around us,

and to show compassion in our actions.

May our school be a place of welcome and belonging,

where everyone feels valued and supported.

Help us to bring goodness to those around us

in all that we do.

Amen.

Reflection

Across our Sacred Heart school community, we take time to reflect on the values that help us grow as individuals and strengthen our relationships with one another. In the Christian tradition, this time of year invites us to focus on hope, new life, and the importance of living with love and care.

This week, we are reminded of a simple yet powerful message: to care for one another. In our daily lives at school, this is shown through acts of kindness, inclusion, forgiveness, and respect. These small but meaningful actions help to build a community where everyone feels safe, valued, and supported.

Keeping Kids Safe Online

We extend our sincere thanks to Kate and Rosetta for presenting at Wednesday evening’s Parent Session on Keeping Kids Safe Online. Their knowledge, care, and practical guidance provided families with valuable insights into supporting children to navigate the online world safely. The session covered important topics including mobile phone use, internet and social media safety, current research, and ways to support children’s wellbeing through clear expectations and family agreements.

We also warmly thank Marie and Liz for taking photos on the evening and for their support of Kate and Rosetta throughout the session.

A very big thank you to Geraldine, who did a beautiful job caring for and supervising the children so attentively, allowing parents the opportunity to fully engage in the presentation.

We are grateful to everyone involved in making this such a valuable and well-supported school event.

Sacred Heart Little Learners Club

Gallery Image

I am delighted to share that our first Sacred Heart Little Learners Club session, held on Monday, was a wonderful success. It was a joy to welcome our youngest learners into the school, and the session was filled with excitement, engagement, and happy faces.

Madeleine read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Following the story, the children created their own butterfly craft to take home, proudly sharing their learning with their families.

It was a beautiful beginning to what promises to be a valuable weekly experience for our future Foundation students. We look forward to continuing these sessions each Monday as children build confidence, friendships, and familiarity with our school environment.

A sincere thank you to Madeleine and Palwasha for their care, preparation, and enthusiasm in making the first session such a positive experience for our children.

Teeth on Wheels Visit

On Friday, we welcomed Teeth on Wheels to Sacred Heart Primary School. This was a wonderful opportunity for students to receive dental check ups in a familiar and supportive environment.

The visiting dental team worked with care and professionalism, helping students feel comfortable while promoting the importance of good oral health. Students were reminded about healthy habits such as brushing twice a day, making healthy food choices, and visiting the dentist regularly.

We thank Teeth on Wheels for their time and expertise, and we appreciate the support of families in ensuring students were able to participate in this valuable program.

Reminder of Upcoming Events

A reminder of the following important events happening this week:

Year 5 & 6 Camp – Phillip Island A family information meeting will be held at school (in Marie’s classroom) on Monday 4 May at 3:30pm. This session will provide an opportunity to share more about the camp experience, outline expectations, and answer any questions families may have. We encourage all parents and carers to attend.

InitialLit Parent Information Night (Foundation, Year 1, Year 2)

This Wednesday 6 May, we will be holding an information session for families about the InitiaLit program. The session will provide an overview of how InitiaLit is used in classrooms to support early reading, writing, and spelling development. Parents and carers will gain insight into how literacy skills are explicitly taught and how learning can be supported at home.

Childminding will be available to support families attending.

Please also refer to 'Dates to Remember' in the newsletter for more information on upcoming events.

Have a great week!

Warmest wishes,

Antoniette
