School Advisory Committee – Nominations Sought

I would like to sincerely thank Mr Tim Cortese, who has served on the St Peter’s College School Advisory Committee since 2020. Tim, together with his wife Kirsty, have been a strong and generous supporters of the College. They are parents of Milly (Class of 2021), Bonny (Class of 2023), James (Class of 2025), and Will (Class of 2026)—all of whom held significant student leadership roles at the Cranbourne Campus.

Tim has been a highly valued member of the Committee, offering wise counsel and unwavering support to the College. We are deeply appreciative of his commitment and service.

With Tim’s resignation, I invite applications from one Cranbourne Campus parent to join the St Peter’s College School Advisory Committee.

 

Purpose of the School Advisory Committee

The Committee acts as an advisory body to the principal by:

  • Providing advice and a forum for discussion on matters relating to education at the College

  • Strengthening links between the parish priest, principal, staff, parents, and parish community

  • Promoting strong relationships between the parish, primary schools, and Catholic secondary colleges

Responsibilities of Committee Members:

  • Promote the Catholic ethos of the College

  • Provide feedback on and review school policies

  • Assist with future planning and enrolment growth

  • Advise on budget planning and finance matters

  • Contribute to the selection of the school principal

  • Support faith development and Religious Education

  • Promote child safety

The Committee meets six times per year. Appointments are for three years, with the opportunity for re‑election. Members must hold a current Working with Children Check or VIT registration and have a child currently enrolled at the College.

Nominations open Monday 27 April 2026 and close Friday 1 May 2026.

Athletics Success on the National Stage

Congratulations to Kevin De Silva (Year 10, Marian C) on his outstanding athletics achievements. Kevin claimed gold in the 100m sprint and bronze in the 200m at the State Championships, and was presented with a certificate recognising an Australian Best Performance from last season. His dedication and excellence are to be commended.

We also congratulate Hartley Patterson (Year 8, MacKillop F), who represented Victoria at the Brisbane Athletics Nationals, competing in 14 races over four days. Hartley achieved multiple podium finishes, including gold medals in the U13 100m and 4x100m relay, supported by her coach Mrs Cathy Heijden, PE teacher at our Cranbourne Campus.

Netball Excellence at State and National Level

Congratulations to Louis St Mart (Year 9, Kolbe E) and Harrison Hand (Year 12, Avila F) on their exceptional achievements in representative netball. Louis has been selected for the Victorian U15 Boys State team and will compete at the SSV National Championships in Term 3. Harrison co‑captained the Victorian U17 Boys team to national victory in Perth. We also acknowledge Cranbourne teacher Mrs Sarah Hogan, who supported both athletes as a State coach.
