Child Safeguarding

At SME, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. As part of our commitment to being a Child Safe school, we continue to strengthen a culture where all learners feel safe, respected, and supported to thrive. A key part of this work is our implementation of Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR). This is a Victorian curriculum that supports schools to teach social and emotional skills in a structured and meaningful way. Through RRRR, children learn how to build resilience, develop healthy relationships, understand and respect the rights of others, and navigate challenges with confidence.
At SME, RRRR is not just a standalone program, it is a whole-school approach. This means that the values and skills taught through RRRR are embedded across all areas of school life. You will see this in our classrooms, in the playground, and in the way staff model positive and respectful interactions every day. Our goal is to create a consistent and supportive environment where expectations are clear and every learner feels a strong sense of belonging.
We encourage families to support this work at home by having conversations about emotions, relationships, and respectful behaviours. When school and home work together, we can make an even greater impact on the wellbeing and development of our young people.
Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us maintain a safe and inclusive community for all.
