Learning and Teaching

Year 6
Our Year 6 students recently participated in an engaging and meaningful incursion with LifeChanger as part of our ongoing termly wellbeing program. LifeChanger is an Australian organisation dedicated to supporting young people to develop confidence, resilience, and positive mental health habits. Their programs focus on building self-awareness, strengthening relationships, and equipping students with practical strategies to navigate social challenges.
Across the 90-minute session, students were highly engaged and eager to contribute to a range of discussions and activities centred on friendships and wellbeing. They explored what makes a positive and healthy friendship, reflected on why friendships are important, and unpacked how rumours can start and the impact they can have on others. Students also practised gratitude and discussed simple, powerful ways they can foster kindness and connection in their everyday lives.
A particularly special part of the session was the opportunity for students to write a letter of gratitude to someone important in their lives. It was wonderful to see the care and thought students put into their writing, with many choosing to acknowledge parents and grandparents. Watching students take home these heartfelt letters was a truly special moment and a reminder of the power of gratitude.
We are incredibly proud of the way our Year 6 students participated, sharing openly, listening respectfully, and embracing the opportunity to reflect on their relationships. We look forward to continuing this valuable program throughout the year.
Year 1
The Year 1 learners have been busy building their writing skills through a range of engaging literacy experiences. In InitialWrite, learners have been learning to read information and transform it into simple information reports, developing their ability to share facts clearly.
They have also been practising writing simple sentences about spiders, applying their phonics knowledge and growing in confidence as writers. Learners are beginning to edit their own sentences, checking for accuracy and making improvements to strengthen their writing.
A key focus has been the use of pronouns to make their writing flow more smoothly, as well as combining two simple sentences using the connector word “and” to expand their ideas.
It has been wonderful to see the learners’ enthusiasm and progress as they continue to develop their skills as confident writers.
