Australian Culinary Federation Competition
At the end of Term 2, a team of Loreto College Food Studies students competed in the Australian Culinary Federation Competition at the Mount Waverley Secondary College Senior Campus in Melbourne.
Competing in two teams, our Year 11s both won bronze medals. Emma and Ella produced a mini raspberry cake for the dessert, while Mia and Arabella created a honey soy chicken with fried rice for main course.
Our Year 10 team won a silver medal. Eleanor and Avamary impressed the judges with their Bombe Alaska dessert with raspberry semifreddo and raspberry coulis.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and represented Loreto College with enthusiasm, professionalism and teamwork. Competing in a busy, industry-style kitchen gave them a valuable opportunity to demonstrate their skills, respond to pressure and learn from professional chefs and other young competitors. It was a rewarding day for everyone involved, and the students should be extremely proud of their achievements.
