CWA Visit 

On Monday 27 July, the Unit 4 Sociology class, as part of their depth study of a community group, hosted the Webcona Branch of the Country Women’s Association Victoria Inc for an afternoon of engaging conversation and afternoon tea. 

The ladies of the CWA presented to the class about the history of the CWA and its relations with others, its present social structure, its cultural values and the way it governs itself. The women of the CWA gave an insightful presentation into their varied activities and proved that age is no barrier to being an active and engaged member of the community. The highlight of the afternoon was when the students were able to sit in small groups and chat freely with a member of the CWA, not only about the required topics but about life in general, such as 'where did you go to school?' and 'how do you welcome new members to the group?'. 

No afternoon with the CWA would be complete without scones, with the students preparing jam and cream scones for the visitors to enjoy. This visit sees our relationship with the Webcona Branch continue. We look forward to seeing our CWA friends in the future.
