Dear Parents and Carers,
This week, I have had the great pleasure of interviewing a large group of Year 11 students for the position of College Captain. My overwhelming insight was how fortunate we are to have these amazing young adults at our school. Two leaders emerged from this cohort, and they have been appointed as our next College Captains. They are Angelina Juby and Kareem Muhktar. Angelina and Kareem see their positions as a great privilege and a chance to give back to a school community they love. We look forward to inducting them, along with our other leaders, in the coming weeks.
Last week, Monivae hosted Mercy Regional College in the BAS Netball. The stadium was opened up to allow senior students, staff and families to watch the game. It was a close match, ebbing and flowing right to the end, with Monivae going down by 5 goals. On Monday, they journeyed to Ballarat to play Ballarat Grammar and had a strong win, 42 to 35. The girls are extremely competitive, and the next two games will determine if we make the final. I wish them all the best.
Musical Milestones concert last Thursday evening was a celebration of our talented music students. Aside from the nerves, there was a great sense of joy, achievement and pride amongst the students, parents and staff. Each year our students grow in their skills and expertise in their chosen instrument. I am extremely grateful to the Performing Arts staff, and particularly Jess Dixon, who is leading our Ensembles and Bands this Semester. It is a busy time for them, with the College Musical less than a week away from opening night.
A number of staff have participated in the MSC Chevalier Institute formation programs this week. Adrian Brannan, Chevalier Institute Director, has been leading these programs with Lia Mailes, Director of Faith and Mission, Co-facilitating. The Chevalier Institute exists to share the depths and richness of our MSC spirituality, so that all who participate impart to others the profound meaning of God's love in our lives. The programs are designed to draw us into our hearts and into the mystery of God’s love that finds expression through us all.
Creator God,
We give thanks for the many opportunities that help us grow in understanding, compassion and hope.
May we continue to seek common ground with others, listen with open hearts,
and recognise the dignity and value of every person.
Amen.
May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be everywhere loved.
Forever
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart pray for us.
Pray for us
Kind regards,
Mr Jonathan Rowe
