Round 2 - 29 July v Ballarat High School
On Wednesday, 29 July in Ballarat, our Monivae First Netballers kicked off our BAS competition with a solid team performance against Ballarat High School.
A fast-paced start set us up in this game, with a focus on controlling the play, our skills and the timing of the ball movement.
A challenge at the start of the second quarter from Ballarat High, led to them piling on 6 goals to 2. It was really pleasing to see our girls re-group quickly and adjust where needed, only going down by 1 goal at the end of this quarter.
A solid second half of consistent goal scoring and defensive intercepts led to a 26-goal win over the home team.
A fantastic start to the season and a game to be really proud of— well done to our girls involved in this squad!
Best on Court: Molly Sevior

Round 4 - 12 August v Mercy College, Camperdown
Last week we hosted Mercy College at Monivae. A crowd full of support for our girls was very much appreciated and provided a great atmosphere for a close contest.
Lots of pressure from our defensive end with Mackenzie Barr, Skye Kissel and Maddox Ryan led to many turnovers and opportunities for us in this game, as we matched them and got within 1 goal at three-quarter time.

Unfortunately, a few pivotal skill errors on our part led to Mercy finishing 6 goals up. Being our second game of the BAS program, this was a solid hit out and showcased some excellent netball across the court.
A great job to our entire team for their efforts in the match!

Round 3 - (rescheduled) 18 August v Ballarat Grammar
This week we travelled to Ballarat Grammar for our rescheduled Round 3 BAS fixture. Our girls worked hard across the court and showed great determination to secure a 7-goal win.
While there were some early flat patches in the game, the girls continued to encourage each other and find ways to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Lucy McLaren, Holly Rook and Ruby Spong stepped up strongly, particularly through the midcourt, helping to drive the ball forward and create scoring opportunities. Consistent holds from our shooter, Molly Sevior, helped create more opportunities in the goal ring and improve our feeds.
We continued to chip away at the centre-pass goals and maintained composure throughout the match. A great team effort and an important win. Well done to all our girls involved!

Ms Melody Keath
Coach
Friday of Week 1 saw the kick off of team sports for Term 3, with a chilly Friday morning at Pedrina Park for the GD soccer. With 3 eager teams hitting the pitch, it was great to see the combination of soccer skills, team work and athleticism on display. Our two junior teams were a force across the day with our Year 8 team under the expert eye of Zander Mibus coaching, going undefeated for the day. They progressed to the Greater Western region competition with this win. Our Year 7 team, coached by Lucas Riley, worked hard all day, with many skilled soccer players showcasing their skills, along with some great athletes taking to the round ball game easily.

Although the Year 9 and 10 team were unable to go through to the next competition due to a conflict of dates, it was great to see them go out with determination and enthusiasm, The team started with a strong win, setting them up for the day. Coach, Alexander McAdam, continued with the winning combination and game plan to see the team continue their winning streak throughout the day, taking home the honour of being the Intermediate Soccer Champions for 2026. A huge thank you to our 3 coaches and Mr Stevenson for the many hours supervising the training sessions and competition.

Our Year 8 team, after winning the GD competition, headed off early to Ballarat on Thursday, 6 August to take on the best teams in the GW region. After a chilly start and the boys fighting hard to score, unfortunately Trinity College Colac and Emmanual College Warrnambool were two strong on they day. Once again thank you to Zander Mibus organising and coaching the boys, Mr Stevenson for more hours as team manager with training and for Andrew Gill for getting the boys safely to and from Ballarat.

The first official clay target competition for 2026, kicked of at the Coleraine Field and Game school competition at the Tahara Recreation Reserve. The clay target team competed against schools in the South West and as far as Geelong. Despite the cold, wet and windy conditions the team shot well with many in the Top 10. Immy Cameron won the U15 Girls and Shooting Captain, Charlotte Braune, took out 2nd place in the O15 girls. Thanks to Mr Flavel for his support throughout the day and the trainings leading up to the competition.

After a successful win at the Glenelg Division Basketball competition late Term 2, the Year 9/10 girls headed to Ballarat to compete at the GWR Intermediate Basketball. Although full of nerves the girls composed themselves well with a strong win against Trinity College 58 to 24 in their first game. With less than 15 minutes between games the girls faced a fresh Ballarat High School, unfortunately with some injuries and fatigue kicking in, we were unable to get the win, going down by 20 points. With one win and one loss we placed 2nd in our pool, which saw us play off for 3rd and 4th. The girls took to the court in the hope to take out 3rd place, however with some injuries, they knew it wasn't going to be easy. Horsham College didn't seem to match us in the first half with Monivae up at half time. However, as time ticked away in the second half, they kicked in with some new found energy and the scores were even, going goal for goal. With less than a second to go and the scores tied, Evie Grinham launched her signature 3 point shot to win the game. Special thanks to Ellie Foley for coaching and Belinda Carroll for being the team manager.
After months of preparation, the 4 netball teams were ready. However the morning was very wet, cold and windy which lessened some enthusiasm for the start of the day. However in true Hamilton weather, especially at Pedrina Park the rain moved on and the sun popped through. The Year 9/10 and 11/12 teams headed up early and secured wins in both their first games. They then proceeded to fight against the opposition as well as the wind to cement wins in all their games. The Year 7/8 teams joined the older girls mid morning to continue the winning streak throughout the day. The only loss was to Emmanuel in the final game. Congratulations to all four teams on a gallant effort at the NV Netball Championship.

Thank you to the coaches, Alison Read, Kate Couchman, Nyah Bester and Mel Keath along with umpires Belinda Carroll, Megan Layley, Chloe Stewart and Ruby Schulz for all their efforts on the day and preparation of teams.
