Earlier this year, Liam and Daniel represented Magill School at the SAPSASA Golf competition at Mount Osmond Golf Course. Through their impressive performances, both boys progressed to the next round of competition.
In Week 3 of this term, the brothers competed in two days of golf at West Beach. On Day 1, they competed in the Metro Boys Championship, where Liam took out first place, while his younger brother Daniel finished in an impressive fourth place.
Day 2 was the State Final. The boys finished in a three-way tie for first place with another competitor, resulting in a playoff. Unfortunately, neither boy took home the championship on this occasion. Liam and Daniel both finished in second place, with Daniel taking the higher position on a countback.
Through these outstanding results, both boys have been selected in the SAPSASA State Golf Team and will travel to Newcastle in late October to compete in the National Championship.
Congratulations and good luck to Liam and Daniel!

The Magill yr 2/3 Gold team had a special visit from Maria Lam, a retired principal from Hong Kong who taught at the school that one of our players previously attended. Maria Lam is known as 'Headmistress Snoopy' because her office is covered in Snoopy memorabilia. She prepared a special gift for each player and the coach with a personal message of encouragement!

On Friday 21 August, 37 students from Years 4–6 represented Magill School at the SAPSASA Athletics Carnival at Bridgestone Stadium, Salisbury. This was the equal-largest team we have taken to an Athletics event, with students bringing a range of experience levels. For some, it was their very first time participating in SAPSASA sport.
Our students competed in the 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 4 x 100m relay, shot put, discus, high jump and long jump. All students gave their best efforts on the day, with an impressive 19 students achieving podium finishes.
Following these outstanding results, six students have been selected to represent the Torrens River District at the SAPSASA State Championships later this term at SANTOS Stadium. Congratulations to:
Claire V (F3) – Discus
Abdullah B (F3) – Shot Put
Evie G (F13) – 200m
James K (F15) – Long Jump
Kavya S (F11) – Shot Put and Discus
Sabine F (F8) – 100m and 4 x 100m Relay
A highlight of the day was the wonderful camaraderie between our students. They supported and cheered for one another throughout the day, regardless of the result, and showed genuine excitement and encouragement when their teammates were successful. It was fantastic to see such positive sportsmanship and school spirit.
Magill School also finished 2nd in the Large Schools Championship for the Torrens River District, which is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the hard work and commitment of our students.
It was wonderful to have so many parents and families attend to support our students. A big thank you to the parents who volunteered their time to help on the day. Your support is greatly appreciated, as events like this simply could not run as successfully without the assistance of our families.
Well done to all of our athletes on an outstanding day!
