What a Fortnight!

If the past two weeks are anything to go by, there is certainly never a dull moment at Magill! With Year 5 camp, dancing incursions, celebrating our SSOs, and an action-packed Book Week, our school has been full of energy, creativity and excitement.

We kicked off Week 5 with our Year 5 students heading off to camp at Mylor. Despite some chilly moments, it was thoroughly enjoyed by students, staff and our wonderful parent volunteers. A highlight was the Newspaper Fashion Design and Parade, with incredibly creative costumes ranging from ‘Trashion Fashion’, to Ancient Greek soldiers. It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm, collaboration, and imagination on display.

We also had the opportunity to celebrate our wonderful SSOs, such an important part of the Magill team. Their contribution to our students and staff is invaluable, and we simply could not do what we do without them.

Meanwhile, Footsteps Dance Company had the whole school moving, working with students from Reception to Year 6 throughout the week. The excitement was infectious, with students enthusiastically sharing their new routines and experiences.

To finish Week 5, N4, N10 and N8 presented a delightful assembly. Our brand-new mid-year Reception students were particularly impressive, presenting with confidence and enjoyment. The Gingerbread Man was certainly a star of the show, featuring in both the re-enactment and dance. Fantastic!

And then, of course, it was straight into Book Week!

Our school has been buzzing with books, stories and creativity. Year 1 students have enjoyed geocaching, Year 2 have explored Claymation, and we have had Andy Lee author Zoom sessions, Patch Theatre, storytelling and, of course, our much-loved Book Week costume day.

While the fun and excitement are what we see, there is an enormous amount of work happening behind the scenes to make these experiences possible. Planning, paperwork, timetabling, organising and plenty of juggling go into bringing these opportunities to life.

Our staff work incredibly hard to provide these rich and memorable experiences for our students, supported by our generous parent volunteers.

When we see the delight on our students’ faces and the pride on the faces of parents watching their children perform, create, dance and participate, we are reminded of what makes Magill so special.

The smiles, the laughter and the excitement we have seen over the past fortnight are a wonderful reminder of why we do what we do. Thank you to everyone who makes these moments possible: together, we make Magill the special place it is.
