Kool Skools Recording Project – Final Tracks Now Available 

We’re excited to share the finished tracks from this year’s Kool Skools Recording Project. Over two full days at Empire Studios, a group of students worked with a professional producer to record an album of original songs and cover versions. 

Each student rose to the challenge, bringing energy, focus and creativity to the studio. The final result is an impressive collection of music that reflects the wide range of talent in our program, with everything from hard rock and indie pop to energetic soul and funk.

A huge thank you goes to a generous parent in our community who donated the majority of the funding for this project. While they’ve asked not to be named, we are incredibly grateful for their support in helping make this experience possible. 

Well done to all the students involved. You’ve created something truly special.  

Coming up next in Term 3  

Battle of the bands – Who will take out the prize for 2025? 

Heats kick off in Week 6 of Term 3, and you must enter your band’s details via THIS FORM by Friday 9 August. 

Three categories: 

Best Cover – Middle School (Years 7–9) 

Best Cover – Senior School (Years 10–12) 

Best Original Song – (Years 7–12) 

Bonus points for: 

• Reimagined covers (Triple J’s Like A Version style) OR Creative song writing 
• Most entertaining performance 

Solo and group acts welcome. Perform one song in the heats, two if you make the final. 

Rehearsal space available during Music Club (Wednesdays and Thursdays at first break). Message Mr Krieg on teams to book a room 

Winners will perform at the Malahang Festival and the Best Original Song act will receive a studio recording session at VBC.
