This year over 14,000 writers competed, submitting almost 2,000 books, so these results – having not only winners in our region of Australia, but taking out the entire middle years national competition – are absolutely amazing.
Chess Victoria State Final
Congratulations to our exceptional chess team—Jayden Z, Trent K, Benny C, Jackie L, and Rey D (Best Player in State)—for their victory at the Chess Victoria State Finals! Competing against top Victorian schools, they displayed outstanding resilience and skill to secure the state championship title. Now, they set their sights on the Australian National Championships in Perth this December.
BUFTA Shortlist
Congratulations to Talia N and Georgia L (Year 12) who have been shortlisted for the Bond University Film and Television Awards. The Bond University Film & Television Awards (BUFTA) is a prestigious competition for Australian high school students passionate about filmmaking. BUFTA provides an opportunity for young filmmakers to showcase their talent by submitting original short films across various categories, such as drama, documentary, and animation. Winners receive awards and scholarships to study Film and Television at Bond University, supporting the next generation of filmmakers in pursuing their creative ambitions.

BikeEd Shirt Winner
Congratulations to Lara L (Year 8) for winning the Triathlon T-Shirt Design Competition! Next year, all Year 9 students will proudly wear her design during their Term 1 triathlon unit. Keep an eye out for them on the local roads!
Science Talent Search Competition
Congratulations to our Year 6 competitors in the Science Talent Search Competition. This year Mabel and Sonia won minor bursary awards for their elevator and heart models. Peter was awarded a major bursary for his model of a brain. Well done everyone!

Australasian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiad
Throughout the year, all Year 3-6 students took on the challenge of the international Australasian Problem Solving Mathematical Olympiad, competing against over 30,000 students. We are thrilled to announce that many of our students scored in the top 10% and 25%, with special recognition for Lachlan C and Warren M (Year 6), Huntingtower's highest achievers!
