From the Principal
Proverbs 24:16
"For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again."
"The devotion of thought to an honest achievement makes the achievement possible."(Science and Health, p. 199)
As we dive into the final stretch of Term 4, many of our students are preparing for exams, presentations and culminating assessments. While these milestones can feel daunting, I encouraged students at our recent Principal’s Assembly to shift their focus from the outcome to the process.
What matters most is the thinking, application and growth that happen along the way. Every mistake is an opportunity to learn, refine and improve.
We explored the Museum of Failure, a fascinating initiative founded by psychologist Samuel West. The museum celebrates learning through failure, showcasing products like Pepsi Clear, McDonald’s Arch Deluxe burger and Ikea’s inflatable couch. These big brands remind us that even the most successful organisations experience missteps.
This idea resonated with students, sparking conversations about notable figures like Oprah Winfrey and J.K. Rowling, who persevered through rejection and failure to achieve remarkable success.
As exams approach, I encourage all students to adopt this mindset. Think of each practice question, each draft and each attempt as steps toward improvement. The process is where true learning happens. It is the “hard work that places you where the good luck finds you.”
As we near the end, I encourage everyone to give things a go, embrace the process and trust in the value of persistence.
If you have stories of resilience or examples of turning failure into success, I’d love for you to share them.
Together, let’s celebrate not just results but the courage to try.
