Year 9 History Excursion

Last week, Year 9 History students travelled to the city to learn more about history close to home. Students discovered different push and pull factors in Australia’s migration history at the Immigration Museum, before heading to the State Library for a research workshop. Here, students gained valuable insight into the library’s extensive resources, databases, and catalogues that they can use not just for History tasks, but across many other subjects too.

Thanks to all staff and students that made this experience run smoothly!

Swimming Carnival

Last Thursday we had the swimming carnival. It was an absolute blast- despite the weather delivering us some challenging conditions!

Well done to every student (and teacher!) who jumped in and competed. An extra good job to all those progressing to division. The Year Sevens were especially committed throughout the day, most notably in the relay races. It was great to see every lane filled with swimmers. It’s worth noting that the year 7 Hotham students dominated on the day. Four relay teams and a literal wave of students during the chaotic (but organised) year level ‘race’.

The day will go down as a historic day for Hotham House. After nearly two decades of being the laughing stock of the competition, they were finally victorious! They amassed a huge 1063 points, dominating throughout the day to win comfortably in the end. Staff and students in Hotham dared to dream at the first assembly of the year, visualising what it would be like to hold the trophy. Congratulations on (finally) making it happen!

We are incredibly happy with the overall participation of the day and can’t wait to see you all at Aths!
