We are continuing with our work on Big Red Kangaroo, and gathering lots of great information for our own information reports on Australian animals. Students have worked hard to build their understanding and use of noun groups, write well written sentences that are not 'choppy' or too long, and organised their information into subcategories like habitiat, diet, appearance and needs. It has been very interesting learning some unique facts about our native animals. It has been great to see how proud the students are with their newly learnt information, and seeing them piece together their information reports.
In Numeracy this fortnight, we looked into mapping, coordinates and directions. Students spent the week completing a series of missions that looked at 'Pip's Treasure Hunt'. It was wonderful to see how well students responded to these tasks. We explored directional language, and successfully used this language to give directions around our own maps.
During our fluency, students have shown great growth and mastery of learning their multiplication and division facts for 2s, 5s, and 10s!

We have revisited some of our work around shapes and their properties. We have been identifying the properties of shapes, including how many corners, sides and parellel pairs. Students worked in groups to create shapes with some string, and then recorded the properties they were able to find.
For Integrated Studies this term, we are exploring the 'Life Cycles of Plants and Animals'. Last we we had a focus on the life cycle of insects, inparticular the cicada. There was a staggering amount of species of cicadas around the world. The most interesting thing we learnt was that some species live underground in their nymph phase for up to 17 years, before surfacing to live only up to 6 weeks!
Our Grade 3 students are very excited for camp next week. We will be having discussions this week around our camp expectations, what camp activities we will be doing, and some others details. We can't wait to share with you about what we get up to!
For our Grade 2 students, classes will run at school as normal.
