Year 8 STEAM students have been working busily in their Emergency House teams as engineers, project manager and sustainability officers and architects to meet the following brief:
Students are to research and design their own, accessible, self-sufficient, off-grid emergency house to be used in response to a natural disaster.
Students will be presenting their Emergency House companies and innovative housing solutions to students from local primary schools and MDCC students. The Year 8 cohort have been collaborating and communicating via a shared Canvas Workspace, where they can share their role information to ensure the smooth development of their companies.
Year 8 parents/carers are invited to attend the Emergency Housing Showcase on the following dates and times:

Da Vinci Decathlon Competition
Well done to our outstanding Years 8, 9 and 10 teams who competed in the Da Vinci Decathlon held at The Riverina Anglican College during Week 2 this term. Students worked collaboratively through various challenges, demonstrating perseverance, higher order thinking skills, creativity, problem solving and critical thinking skills in the areas of:

Robocup Spike Prime Challenge
Students were provided with the opportunity to enter into the Robocup Spike Prime Challenge. Congratulations to Holly Umback, Miley Gibson and Harvey McLachlan who will work together to create a creative piece in response to the theme: Spike Prime World of Discovery. These students will be given time to create their submission throughout this term.
MANSW Investigating with Mathematics
The Maths Association of NSW Investigating with Mathematics Competition was opened as an mathematical enrichment opportunity for Year 9 students.
Ten students have decided to undertake the challenge. This group of students will work either collaboratively or individually to create their problem and find a mathematical solution to solve the problem as part of a NSW competition.
