Leaving His Mark on Air Force Cadets

Year 12 student Andre Ah Loy recently attended the National Rifle Competition in Sydney where he placed 2nd overall. This means that he is also the highest ranked marksman for his home squadron (104 Squadron - Cairns). Andre has also earned the coveted "cross- rifles" badge for a second time, for his shooting accuracy of 90%.

Andre’s other outstanding achievements include being promoted in Year 11, and again in Year 12, to the highly respected role of the Cairns Squadron Cadet Warrant Officer. In this role, he oversees the discipline, standards and drill of the entire squadron, a challenging task at just 16 and 17 years respectively. He has also volunteered a commendable 500+ hours over the last one and a half years, giving up every Friday evening and some weekends as well as committing to camps during school holidays.

As Andre wraps up six years at cadets, he can feel proud to have received the Dux of the Year Award three times. His achievements leave a legacy within his squadron and are also testimony to the work ethic that Saints instills in its students. We commend Andre for his commitment to living his life in the Marist way by his dedication to service through his leadership roles at cadets and at Saints.

Our Students Fly South to Compete in the Shepparton Cup

Issac Whiteside, Samuel Humphries, Jack Edwards, Dominic Johnson and Jonathan Galea recently travelled to Victoria to compete in the Shepparton Cup. The boys competed against students from New Zealand and Victoria, earning two wins and two draws in the group stage before going down in the semi-final. Well done boys!

A First for a Saints Raceway Enthusiast

Matthew Boylett competed at Queensland Raceway over the weekend for the last round of the QRDC  (Queensland Racing Drivers Championship) AASA State Championships. He had a great weekend recording his first win in car racing. [Well done!] Matt came first in the 20-lap last race and second in the second race. In the first race he was leading when another car crashed into him and he finished seventh. He won second place outright for the weekend on points.
