Green Island living classroom

Our Year 11 Visual Art students attended a Green Island Living Classroom experience last month. This is the stimulus that will form the foundation for their Year 12 work. During the Wunyami Cultural Tour, students learnt about the traditional medicinal properties of the plants on the island, as well as the Indigenous owners’ connection to the island, specifically surrounding boys’ initiation ceremonies. They observed fish and coral from a glass-bottom boat and were lucky to see turtles and other sea creatures as they snorkelled from the beach. They have plenty of choice to inspire their art as knowledge and art as alternate bodies of work.

Treasure Island

Saturday 18 November 2023

Treasure Island explores the story of an impulsive and adventurous young boy named Jim Hawkins who comes across a treasure map. He goes on a journey to try to recover the treasure that once belonged to the famous Captain Flint. On his travels he meets Long John Silver, a one-legged cook, who ends up leading a pirate mutiny.
