Mission & Faith Life

Feast of the Assumption
This week our College celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary with a Primary Liturgy of the Word and Secondary Mass with Fr Mark.
The Feast of the Assumption recognises the Catholic belief that at the end of her life on earth, the body and soul of Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken (assumed) by God into heaven. In the Catholic Tradition this means that Mary’s body took on a glorified presence—as will all who enter heaven—as a result of her complete union with God.
At Salvado Catholic College, we teach our students to pray to Mary as an intercessor, meaning she prays to God on our behalf. This practice is established in her special role as the Mother of Jesus and her closeness to Him. Just as we might ask a friend to pray for us, we ask Mary to pray for our needs. Her "yes" to God at the Annunciation shows her deep faith and willingness to help others follow God's will. By turning to Mary in prayer, students learn to grow in faith, humility, and trust in God's love, while also strengthening their relationship with Jesus.
Our College Patron, Bishop Rosendo Salvado, often prayed the Holy Rosary, turning to Mother Mary for guidance and strength to continue his missionary work.

First Holy Communion
Please keep in your prayers our Year 4 students who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion.
Loving God,
We thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus,
Who comes to us in the Eucharist with love and grace.
Bless all those who are receiving their First Holy Communion today.
Fill their hearts with faith and joy as they welcome Jesus into their lives.
Help them to understand the great gift they are receiving,
And guide them to grow ever closer to You each day.
Keep them strong in Your love,
Protect them from all harm,
And inspire them to share Your peace with others.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
College Community Mass
We warmly welcome all grandparents to join us for a special Community Mass in their honour next week, on Wednesday 27 August at 8am. This is a beautiful opportunity to celebrate the love, wisdom, and guidance that grandparents bring to our families and school community. Please come and share in this meaningful celebration with us — we look forward to seeing you there!

Pope Francis' Monthly Prayer Intention
In August , we pray for mutual coexistence.
Let us pray that societies where coexistence seems more difficult might not succumb to the temptation of confrontation for ethnic, political, religious, or ideological reasons.
