Malvern Primary Container Deposit Scheme (CDS)

CDS 10c Post
We’re thrilled to share that Malvern Primary School is now participating in the Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) — a fantastic initiative that helps the environment and supports our school community! We are the first primary school in Victoria to be partaking in this initiative.
What is the Container Deposit Scheme?
The CDS encourages recycling by offering a 10-cent refund for every eligible drink container returned to a refund point (refer to posters around the school). That includes most plastic bottles, cans, and cartons commonly used by students and families every day. We encourage that no student brings glass containers/bottles to school.
How It Works at Malvern Primary
Starting this term, we’ll have clearly marked CDS bins around the school where students can deposit their eligible containers. These will be collected regularly and returned for refunds — and all the funds raised will go directly back to the school for sporting equipment for students in the yard at recess and lunch time.
How You Can Help at Home
We encourage families to collect eligible containers at home and bring them to school. It’s a simple way to involve children in recycling and environmental responsibility — and every container makes a difference! We once again ask that no student bring any glass containers/bottles to school.
If families, collect glass bottles parents are welcome to bring these to the two clearly marked CDS bins at the rear entrance of the Rec Centre (Near After Hours Care).
