Off your back - winter coat collection for homeless Victorians
Winter is here and it is freeeeezing out there! Do you or your kids have any winter coats that no longer fit, or you no longer wear? Please donate them this winter and help to combat the bitter cold faced by over 30,000 homeless people in Victoria. By donating your pre-loved coats and jackets to Off Your Back, every garment finds a home with those that need it most.
This is the 4th year that MPS has partnered with Off Your Back – and through your generosity we have donated over 250 coats so far! So before we break for winter holiday, please take a look in your wardrobes and bring your pre-loved coats and jackets into the MPS office by 9.15am Tuesday 1 July. These will be collected and delivered to Off Your Back and distributed to families and individuals doing it tough through Youth Projects Centres for poor and homeless young people, the Prison Network Charity that helps ex-inmates, Salvation Army centres and womens' shelters.

For more than two decades, the Off Your Back winter coat drive has been a lifeline, ensuring warmth for those who need it most. Over 300,000 high-quality, preloved coats have been gathered from the compassionate hearts of our community and redistributed without a single cent spent. No tedious committee meetings, no sponsor-driven budgets, and no dollars wasted on advertising. The Off Your Back Winter Coat Drive, born from a single viral email, has blossomed into a movement that embraces school collections, company contributions, and the tireless efforts of individual volunteers. We are profoundly grateful for the generosity surrounding us, and, most importantly, for the warmth we can collectively provide to countless Victorians in need.
