Parking Around the School
We have recently been contacted by some of our neighbours regarding the parking behaviour of some parents at drop off and pick up time.
Parents are asked not to park over our neighbours' driveways. Apart from being illegal, it is inconvenient for them if they need to get in or out of their properties. We realise that parking around the school can be difficult, but it is essential that we show our neighbours respect as we use their streets.
Kiss and Go
We are fortunate to have two 'Kiss and Go' areas along Tooronga Road that support parents with quick drop offs. However these only work well if we all use them correctly.
The 'Kiss and Go' areas mean that parents can only bring their vehicle to a stop and drop their child/ren off, then leave the space for others to come in.
Parents cannot turn their vehicles off and cannot leave their cars to walk children into the school.
Again, the 'Kiss and Go' areas are covered by local parking laws and parents who use them incorrectly may be fined by Stonning Council Parking Inspectors.
If parents would like to bring their child/ren into the school or are meeting with staff, they must find a carpark in the local streets that provide them the time to do this.
School Crossing
We are very lucky to have a supervised crossing with lights to assists our students and families safely cross Tooronga Road.
We ask that parents are careful with their behaviour on and around the crossing to support the safety of pedestrians.
This includes stopping on the red signal, not moving into the crossing (even if the light turns green) until all pedestrians and the crossing supervisor are safely off the crossing, and not U'turning on the crossing.
We also ask that the pedestrians use the crossing safely. This includes: walk straight across the crossing (do not cut corners), move quickly (don't dawdle), walk bikes and scooters across the crossing, don't look down at your phones as you cross the crossing - be alert. and listen to the crossing supervisor.
The children will copy the behaviour of the adults around them, so please use our roads safely. We realise that this may be less convenient and take more time, but it will ensure everyone gets to and from school more safely and less stressed.
