Mackenzie Parsons Selected for NSW State Team
Earlier this week, Mackenzie Parsons (Year 11) proudly represented CIS at the NSW All Schools State Lawn Bowls Carnival. Despite two narrow one-shot losses, she delivered dominant wins in her remaining matches, showcasing her impressive skill and composure.
Her outstanding performance earned her selection in the NSW All Schools State Team. Mackenzie will now go on to compete at the National Lawn Bowls Championships, held at Club Pine Rivers in Moreton Bay, Queensland. Congratulations, Mackenzie!
Pushing Limits: MAG Students Compete at Victorian All Schools Cross Country Championships
Three students tested themselves against the best distance runners in Victoria on Saturday, 21 June, at the Victorian All Schools Cross Country Championships. With Victoria being home to some of the top junior distance athletes in Australia, it was always going to be a tough challenge, but one our students embraced with a smile and gritted teeth.
The rolling course of Bundoora Park, located at the highest point in metropolitan Melbourne, added to the difficulty. While the sun was shining, the elevated position meant the wind was sharp and biting.
Congratulations to:
- Laura Stone (Year 8) – 74th in the U14 Girls 3km
- Esther Griffith (Year 7) – 140th in the U14 Girls 3km
- Remi Baulch (Year 11) – 38th in the U17 Girls 4km
This marks the conclusion of cross country at Moama Anglican Grammar for 2025. Next, we turn our focus to BISSA and RAS Athletics in July (Albury), followed by CIS Athletics in September (Sydney).
Looking further ahead, the Victorian All Schools Track and Field Championships will provide another opportunity for students to compete. Held over two weekends in Melbourne later in the year, this event offers a direct pathway to the Australian All Schools Championships—also in Melbourne this December, saving a long trip to Sydney.
This is a direct-entry competition, so please check the newsletter in early Term 4 for entry details. Submissions will go through Kate Downward, Head of Athletics.
