Senior School

你 好 (ni hao)
This week, the 5/6 students have been continuing their Guided Inquiry unit, "Australia's Story," by exploring how life in Australia has changed over time. As part of this learning, students have been writing a diary entry set in either the 1920s, 1950s or 1980s from the perspective of a child living in that era. Students researched what daily life was like during their chosen decade, including school, technology, entertainment and family life, before planning and drafting their diary entries. It has been exciting to see students use their historical knowledge to bring the past to life through their writing.
In Mathematics, 5/6 students have been exploring theoretical probability and experimental probability. They made predictions about the likelihood of different outcomes before conducting a range of chance experiments and collecting data. Students then compared their experimental results with the theoretical probability, discussing why outcomes may or may not match their predictions. Many students have also been finishing and submitting their Maths Challenge workbooks after weeks of dedicated problem-solving.
On Tuesday, the 5/6 teachers had their planning day, and on Wednesday, the 3/4 teachers had theirs. During these days, students enjoyed a full day of specialist classes, participating in a range of engaging activities across PE, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, LOTE and Science.
On Friday, students had lots of fun celebrating Crazy Hair Day where we raised money for Vision Australia. We also enjoyed a wonderful performance from the school band and several talented students who showcased their musical skills and entertained the school community.
