Last weekend Dom competed at the Victorian long course swimming championships held at MSAC  (Melbourne State Aquatics Centre).

The Vic open runs in conjunction with the World Para series with swimmers coming from all over the world, along with Australia's best para and able bodied swimmers.

Dom got to watch Rowan Crothers, Emma McKeon, Cody Simpson and many others in action on their road to the Paris Olympics.

Dominic qualified for the Victorian Open Swimming Championships by achieving certain times per event.

He qualified in the following events:

Dom swam against swimmers from around Australia, NZ and Japan.

It was a 3 day competition  with the heats in the morning and finals at night. Dom made all his finals and on the last day he swam his first heat at 9:15 am and his last final at 9:01 pm.

They were very long days, then Dom attended the GD Swimming in Portland on Monday!

Dom was very pleased to medal in the 200m freestyle as going forward this with his butterfly are the events he wishes to specialize in. He now has 4 weeks of training before  we head to the Australian age swimming championships on the Gold Coast.

We wish him all the best in his endeavours and look forward to hearing how he goes, we're proud of you Dom and respect the discipline it takes to perform at the level you do.
