2024 Annual Implementation Goals

Every year we set annual goals to work towards as a school, all actions taken in the school are geared towards achieveing these goals.

In 2024, in the focus area of Learning, our goal is to maximise learning growth and achievement for all students.  We will do this by developing teachers and leaders’ capacity to monitor and evaluate the impact of teaching on student learning outcomes.

Action - Strengthen the whole-school approach to student assessment through effective Professional Learning Communities.

In the focus area of Wellbeing, our goal is to enhance the social and emotional development of all students. We will do this by developing staff capacity to support complex social, emotional and wellbeing needs.

Action - Develop and implement a whole school approach to Respectful Relationships education.

Smooth start to the year

Staff and students have had a relatively smooth start to the year. In a time of teacher shortages, we have been very fortunate to secure the following new teaching staff.

Teachers

Toni Bywaters – Math/English

Angel Wu – Chinese

Greg Irvin – Math/Science

Steven Rathmell – Technology

Madeleine Hiscock – English/Math

Emma Rymarz – Humanities ( starts term 2)

Brett Teasdale – HDSC Automotive

Sports

A great day was had by all at the Swimming Sports with significant staff involvement with students in various races throughout the day.

A range of competitive and novelty events ensured it was an inclusive event and the weather was sublime.

Parents are notified that the Athletics Sports have been rescheduled to 15 March at Mitchell Park due to light upgrades at Pedrina Park.

Buildings and Grounds

A new irrigation system to the West of the synthetic courts and oval is now in place with pop up timers on sprinklers.  This will significantly improve the area and make it accessible year round.  I would also like to make note of how inviting our grounds are looking thanks to the hard work of our Maintenance Team Mr Dave Costello, Mr Alan Rees and Mrs Sheryl Kavanagh in the garden.

Upgraded air conditioning is currently being installed into new buildings with the plan to continue replacement installation across all classrooms in the college.

Quotes have been received for the Shed purchase and errection to the West of the HDSC, this shed will house our vehicles and equipment such as canoes and trailers as well as a secure undercover work area for large projects coming out of the HDSC.

Mobile Phones at School

Parents and Guardians can expect an increase in confiscations as we adhere to the DET Policy, students are not to have phones on their person at all at school:

  • Students who bring mobile phones to school must have them switched off and securely stored during school hours.
  • For the purpose of this policy, a mobile phone is a telephone with access to a cellular (telecommunication) system, with or without a physical connection to a network.
  • Schools must provide secure storage (lockers and school safe).
  • Schools will manage non-compliance with their local mobile phone policy in accordance with their existing student engagement policies.
