Year 2

We have officially reached the middle of the term, and the Year 2 students have been working incredibly hard in all areas of their learning. Over the past few weeks, we have also been completing assessment and testing tasks to help inform student reports and celebrate the progress everyone has made so far this semester. Alongside our classroom learning, students have enjoyed taking part in several special events including Grandparents Day, Mother’s Day celebrations, and our House Cross Country event. It has been a busy and exciting term filled with learning, connection, and school spirit!
RRRR: Respectful Relationships
Students have been learning about what Respect means and exploring how it can be shown in different situations and from different perspectives. As part of this learning, students drew a picture of themselves demonstrating respect and wrote about what respect means to them. Reegan’s picture and writing showed a wonderful understanding of the concept, clearly demonstrating thoughtful and respectful behaviour towards others.
Maths:
In Maths, we have been focusing on the concept of measurement. Students have been comparing and measuring objects using informal units and describing their findings using words such as shortest, longest, taller, and smaller. We have also begun exploring formal units of measurement and discussing when we use millimetres (mm), centimetres (cm), metres (m), and kilometres (km) in everyday life.
Special Events:
House Cross Country, Mother's Day, Grandparent's Day
We have loved sharing our learning spaces with our special visitors during Grandparents Day and Mother’s Day celebrations. Students enjoyed sharing afternoon tea, playing games together, and proudly showing off the wonderful learning that has been happening in our classroom.
