Dear Families,

Welcome back to the new school year. We hope you and your children enjoyed a restful and joyful break and are feeling refreshed and ready for the year ahead. We are excited to begin another year of learning, growth and faith formation in Religious Education at our school.

This year, our overarching theme is “Shine.” Through this concept, students will be invited to reflect on how they are called to shine in their own lives as learners, as friends and as people of faith. Together, we will explore what it truly means to be a light in the world, grounded in the message of the Gospel and inspired by the example of others.

Students will engage with Scripture to discover how Christ’s life, death and resurrection continue to illuminate our own call to discipleship. They will learn that Jesus is the light of the world, guiding us in how to live with love, compassion, courage and hope. Through engaging activities and Gospel stories the students will understand how faith is not just something we learn about, but something we live each day.

They will be encouraged to reflect on questions such as:

  • How can I shine through my actions and choices?

  • How can I show the light of Christ in the way I treat others?

  • How can our school community shine together?

Religious Education at our school aims to nurture not only knowledge and understanding of faith, but also a strong sense of identity, belonging and purpose. We look forward to partnering with families as we support students to grow spiritually, socially and emotionally, and to truly shine in all that they do.

Matthew 5:15-16

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

We wish all families a wonderful start to the school year and look forward to a year filled with faith, learning and light.
