News from One/Two

Welcome Back to Term 2

What a lovely week we have had in 1/2. Everyone has settled back into routine and has been showing some amazing work! 

Coming up:

F/1/2 Photo Trail May 12th at Maroondah Dam (Check NForma for a permission slip to sign)

Homework This Term - This term we will just be focusing on home readers and tricky words! I will be changing the readers each Monday and I will also add in a trick words practice task. If you have the time I really encourage you to read with your child at home.

Literacy

We have been learning about fables and fairytales, we have been discussing the morals of the stories and how the illustrations help us understand the text. 

In our writing, we have been learning to add adverbs and verbs.

Laylah - “I was drinking my hot drink carefully”.

Jackson - “I was talking nicely to my friends”.

Gabby - “I was running quickly after play.” 

Jessica - “I was playing happily at the playground”. 

Typing Practice 

New to this term!! 

This week we began typing practice which has been really fun and challenging. Everyone has been really enjoying this and will come in really handy with everyday use of our chrome books.  

PBL - Blurts Hurt 

During PBL this week, we learned about why blurting hurts during our learning. We thought of all our personal reasons how not to blurt, when it is okay to blurt and why blurts hurt! 

ANZAC Day - Cookies and Crafts 

On Thursday, we had a beautiful afternoon baking ANZAC cookies and doing some meaningful crafts connected to ANZAC Day.

Maths 

This week we have been adding and subtracting numbers using the bridge to 10 strategy. We have used tens-frames and number lines to show how we effectively use this strategy.
