Year 2 - Newsletter

Dear Year 2 parents & guardians,
It’s hard to believe it is the last week of Term 1! What a fantastic start to the year it has been.
What we’ve been up to in Year 2:
- MATHS:
- Students continued and will complete our unit on patterns and algebra, where they have been making increasing and decreasing number patterns.
- LITERACY:
- Continuing to revise our Stage 7 Little Learners phonemes (sounds - oral) and graphemes (letters that represent the sounds - written)
- Students completed their recount writing about their recent Bundoora Farm Excursion. It has been wonderful to see the students so passionate about recount writing.
- INQUIRY:
- We have concluded our past and present unit with last week's olden day celebration day last Friday. It was such a fun day where students experienced the olden day classroom, enjoyed making pop art and playing olden day games. We appreciated the enthusiasm of students and it was a lovely way to conclude our inquiry unit.
- It has also been lovely reading grandparent letters throughout the unit, and helped students understand what life was like in the past.
Reminders:
- Thursday 2nd April: Last day Term 1 (2:30pm finish)
Enjoy the holiday break! We look forward to seeing you all in Term 2.
The Year 2 team,
Kate Petty, Jess Rogers, Nicole Ryan and Belinda Smith
