STEAM

It has been a busy and engaging start to the term in STEAM, with a whole-school focus on building healthy digital habits.

All students have been learning the catchy and meaningful song Switch It Up, which explores the importance of balancing screen time with active, offline experiences. You might like to watch it together at home: Bring the Balance Back (Cup Song)

In the junior years, our Prep to Year 2 students have been exploring the idea of screen time vs green time. Through discussion, songs and hands-on activities, they are building an understanding of the importance of green time and how too much screen time can make us feel.

In the senior years, students in Years 3–6 have launched into their coding unit, using The Cup Song as a fun and engaging entry point. Through this, they have begun developing key computational thinking skills, including decomposition, sequencing, algorithms, loops and branching. It has been fantastic to see students making connections between rhythm, patterns and coding concepts.

LEGO Masters Competition

Our LEGO Masters competition has just launched this term and is already bringing creativity and excitement to Wednesday lunchtimes. Each week, students take on a new building challenge and showcase their ideas in the Discovery Lab.

A huge congratulations to Georgiama and Romy (Year 2), who impressed the judges with their incredible fantasy castle build in our very first challenge. Their creativity, attention to detail and teamwork really stood out.

We’d love to see even more students get involved. All year levels are welcome, and each week brings a brand new challenge.

We can’t wait to see what you create next!

Term 2 STEAM Clubs

Our After School STEM Clubs with Kids Unlimited are now underway, and it’s been fantastic to see students already engaged in their first sessions.

There are still a small number of places available for students who would like to join.

Students can take part in Coding (Years 2–6) on Tuesdays or Robotics (Years 1–6) on Wednesdays, building creativity, problem-solving and confidence through hands-on learning.

Students are collected from their classroom at the end of the day by the instructor, with pick up from the school office at 4:25pm.

Spaces are limited, so we encourage families to secure a place soon.
