Sports News

It has been a busy start to term two!

Last week our grade 6 class competed in the Holt inter school soccer competition against other local schools. Then today all our senior school including our 3/4s, ran in the Holt cross country event. This was the first time for many of our students competing against other schools and I’m very happy to report back that our students did us proud. Their perseverance, effort and competitiveness were impressive but best of all was the sportsmanship and respect they showed to everyone involved.

In our PE lessons, whilst we have had a focus on ball skills in soccer and footy, our most important focus has been on good sportsmanship. So it’s very rewarding to see our students embracing this at events.

We have had a similar focus in PE for the juniors including our Preps who are getting the hang of winning and losing! They are learning lots of new games and simple concepts like safety and direction.

They are a fast and fit group!

Cross Country

Congratulations to Isabel Jenkin (Year 6), who came in first place in the 12/13 Years 3km Holt Cross Country. In a very close race that came down to the wire, Issy showed great determination and stamina to pull ahead in the final stages. Well done, Issy and we wish you the very best of luck at the District competition in a few weeks.

Swimming State Championships

Congratulations to George McLean (Year 4) on an outstanding achievement in the pool! George has won the Victorian State Champion in the U10 50m Freestyle (multiclass). This is a remarkable accomplishment, and we are incredibly proud of George’s success. George has won all of his swimming events leading up to the State Titles. We hope George is able to continue building his swimming skills over the years so he may continue competing at such a level. Well done.
