Principal's Message

Principal Message Week 2 - Term 2
Welcome back to Term 2. I hope the break provided time to rest, reconnect and enjoy special moments with family and friends. It has been wonderful to see our students return, ready to build on the calm, consistent and positive start established in Term 1.
This term, we continue to work towards the goals outlined in our Annual Action Plan. A key focus will be strengthening our Oral Language program, further improving student achievement in Mathematics and continuing to build strong student engagement across all learning areas. We also remain committed to our PYP development, with a particular emphasis on student agency as we prepare for our upcoming IB PYP Evaluation. It is exciting to see our students increasingly taking ownership of their learning and having a voice in their educational journey.
Term 2 is always a vibrant and busy time in our school community, with many opportunities for families to connect and be part of school life. We look forward to sharing special events such as Muffins with Mum/Special Person celebrations, Grandparents and Special Person Day assembly, our St Columba Feast Day Mass and celebrations and our Open Learning Morning with a focus on Mathematics. We will also celebrate important milestones including the Sacrament of Confirmation for our Year 6 students.
We value the strong partnership we share with our families and warmly invite you to join us throughout the term.
ANZAC DAY
As we paused on the weekend to acknowledge ANZAC Day, we are reminded of the enduring values of peace, courage, reflection and mateship. Values that continue to shape not only our history, but also our everyday lives within our school community.
Peace is something we strive for each day, both in the classroom and on the playground. For our students, this looks like showing kindness, demonstrating respect and using thoughtful words and actions. These small, consistent choices help create a safe and positive environment for all.
Courage is seen in many ways across our school. It takes courage for students to stand up for others, to make positive choices when faced with challenges and to step outside their comfort zone. Whether that be speaking at assembly or sharing their learning with others. We are proud of the courage our students show and it is something we continue to encourage and celebrate.
Reflection an important part of the PYP Learner Profile, invites our students to pause and think deeply about their actions and learning. Our students regularly demonstrate the ability to reflect, showing respect and understanding, while also recognising that growth comes from learning and gentle reminders along the way.
Mateship/friendship/companionships sits at the heart of our community. It is evident in the way we support one another. The strength of our school lies in these connections, where a simple smile, kind word or thoughtful gesture can make a meaningful difference.
As we honour the spirit of ANZAC, may we continue to nurture these values in our students, guiding them to be compassionate, courageous and connected members of our community.
ANZAC DAY Service
Our School Captains, supported by several Year 6 students and others from across the school, represented our community at the ANZAC Day RSL service held at Elwood Sailing Club on Saturday. It was a beautiful and respectful service and we are incredibly proud of the way our students conducted themselves. Oli Ward led the prayer, while Zoe Murphy laid the wreath at the Cross. Thank you to the families who attended and supported this important occasion.
Prayer for the ANZAC Day
We bring our thanks this day for the peace and security we enjoy, which was won for us through the courage and devotion of those who gave their lives in time of war.
We remember their sacrifices and of those who waited in vain at home.
We pray that their labour and sacrifice may not be in vain but that their spirit may live on in us and in generations to come.
We pray that the liberty, truth and justice, which they sought to preserve, may be seen and known in all the nations upon earth.
Amen
