Programming 1

Programming 1 introduces students to the exciting world of coding and digital technologies through practical, hands-on projects. Students develop problem-solving skills while learning how computers, digital systems and the internet work.

Throughout the course, students will:

  • Program Micro:bits to create interactive electronic devices.
  • Learn the fundamentals of programming using variables, loops, conditionals and functions.
  • Design and create their own digital games.
  • Explore how digital systems, computers and networks operate.
  • Investigate how data and technology affect our everyday lives, including topics such as cybersecurity, privacy and artificial intelligence.
  • Complete a personal programming project based on their own interests.

This course is ideal for students who enjoy technology, creativity and solving problems, and provides a strong foundation for further study in programming and digital technologies.

Programming 2

Programming 2 builds on the skills developed in Programming 1 and gives students the opportunity to create more advanced digital solutions.

Throughout the course, students will:

  • Develop programs using a range of programming languages.
  • Design and build interactive websites.
  • Create more sophisticated games using advanced programming techniques.
  • Explore digital systems, networking and emerging technologies.
  • Examine the role of data, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity in today's world.
  • Design and complete a major personal programming project that showcases their skills and interests.

Programming 2 is suited to students who enjoy coding, creating digital products and tackling challenging problems. It provides excellent preparation for senior Digital Technologies, Computer Science and other STEM pathways.
