Music
It has been an excitingly busy time over here at the Music Department. Swinburne’s Big Day Out was a huge success, bringing the campus together for a day of music, creativity and celebration. Highlights included the Band Stage, a Tiny Desk Concert in the Library, alumni performances, popcorn, face painting, a BBQ, fairy floss and T-shirt screen printing.
Congratulations to the ensembles that performed lunchtime sets throughout the term. Special mention goes to Dane and the Guitar Ensemble who also enjoyed an excursion to Mac.Robertson Girls’ High School, extending their performance experiences beyond campus.
We were lucky enough to have Aria nominated, acclaimed composer, arranger and conductor Vanessa Perica join our Composition and Inquiry students for an inspiring guest session.
We also celebrated a fantastic series of music nights at the Fringe Common Rooms in Carlton. These events capped off a wonderful year of performances for our Music Performance, Music Inquiry, VET Sound Production and Year 11 students. Well done to every performer, and to the teachers and crew involved in organising, setting up and running the events.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and especially to the amazing student duo Evie and Ivy who organised and ran the Swinny Big Day Out and all those whose efforts helped make the day and other events such a success.

Theatre Studies
Year 12 Theatre Studies students are working towards their final Monologue performance exam, with a focus on two production roles. Parents and carers will have the opportunity to see these final performances over two days, October 7th - 8th, between 3:00 - 5:30pm. The performance schedule will be released before the break.
Year 11 students performed an engaging version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream late last semester, and are now working towards their Unit 2 production of Ruby Moon, which will be premiering on Tuesday 13th October.
Drama
Year 11 and 12 students are working hard to have their ensemble and solo performances ready for their audiences. Year 12s also presented their ensemble performances late last term.
