A New Language Department. We are delighted to announce the formation of our new Language Department, celebrating the rich cultural diversity and learning experiences our language students bring to our school community.

A highlight this year was Languages Day, when our students shared foods that reflected their cultural backgrounds and personal connections. Many students prepared the food themselves, including a Bûche deNoël, crêpes, Japanese curry, moon cakes, a Malaysian pandan cake, cookies, scones, Quiche Lorraine and Pocky sticks. For students, sharing these dishes was more than simply enjoying delicious food — itwas an opportunity to celebrate their heritage, family traditions and the cultural significance these foods hold in their lives.

Our French students also celebrated Bastille Day, by sharing croissants and embracing an important part of French culture.

Thanks to a generous grant from the AFTV, our VCE French students also attended Cirque du Soleil’s KOOZA, followed by an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour conducted in French. This exciting experience brought language and culture to life beyond the classroom, providing students with anauthentic and memorable opportunity to use their French.
