On Tuesday, 11th August, my cohort and I participated in Year 11 Leadership Day, which helped us understand the qualities of a good leader and prepared us for the responsibilities that come with being in Year 12.

The day kicked off with the Cranbourne cohort meeting the Clyde North cohort in the Geode Centre at the Clyde North campus. We were welcomed by the lovely DJ Dani, who played some tunes for us to sing and dance along to. We were then greeted by our guest speaker, Darren Pereira from Success Integrators, who presented an engaging seminar on leadership, fostering a positive mindset, and believing we can make a positive impact on others' lives. The seminar was a great way to give us Year 11 students a vision of what having a positive mindset can really achieve. Personally, I loved the videos Darren included in his presentation. They were relevant to the topic and genuinely inspiring once he broke down their meaning.

We then headed off for a short break before returning to the CLN campus' brand- new VCE Centre for our chosen workshops. I had the pleasure of participating in the "Qualities All Leaders Need" and "Supporting Younger Students" workshops, which I found both detailed and interesting. They were insightful in showing us how much responsibility a leader actually has to take on and provided great opportunities to learn more about what effective leadership looks like. Shoutout to Mr Bardi and Ms Parker for running these workshops!

After that, the Cranbourne students travelled back to our own campus to participate in some house activities. In my group, Glowrey, Mrs Allan traced my body onto a huge piece of butcher's paper and got our Glowrey Year 11 cohort to write down traits they believe leaders should have. This was a fun way to get everyone thinking about what they would like to see in a student leader, as well as the qualities we already see in each other.

We then used our final 25 minutes to create a structure that would protect an egg if it were dropped from the top of a building. My group created a triangular structure using bamboo sticks and masking tape, placing our egg inside after wrapping it in ten layers of newspaper. We also attached a garbage-bag parachute to the top. At 2:50 pm, we met the other houses outside the Benedict Building to test our structures. Although many houses used balloons, which we thought was a little unfair considering ours were impossible to blow up, we took the result gracefully. Our egg survived the drop and was completely untouched, despite us spending ten minutes trying to get it out of the newspaper!

Overall, Year 11 Leadership Day was a blast! It helped bring our year level together before our final year of high school, and I am incredibly grateful for the

opportunities and experiences I was given throughout the day.
