Foundation Fun with Pevan and Sarah

We have been having lots of fun learning with Pevan and Sarah! They help us with our morning routines and get us ready for a great day of learning.

We have some very exciting news! In Term 4, we are going to see the Pevan and Sarah Concert! We are so excited!

We see Pevan and Sarah in our classrooms every day, and they help us with our learning. We have also been learning ‘The Assembly Song’.

If you would like to learn the song, and dance along with us at home, you can follow the link below.

Fizz, Swirl, Create

In Year 1 Inquiry, we have been learning all about materials and their uses. We started by mixing different materials together and watching what happened. We mixed bicarb soda and vinegar and watched it erupt! We also added dish soap to milk and watched the colours swirl around.

We had lots of fun making our own playdough by mixing different ingredients together. We even got to take our playdough home!

We have also been learning about what everyday objects are made from. We searched our classroom for things made from wood, plastic, metal and glass.

To finish our learning, we became inventors! We changed everyday objects by adding, removing or replacing something to create a new idea. One of us designed a shoe with wheels so you could slide along if your feet got tired from walking!

What we've been learning in Year 2

During term 3, we have been busy learning, exploring and having lots of fun. Last week, we also celebrated Book Week, where we enjoyed reading books, dressing up and celebrating how much we love stories.

In Little Learners Love Literacy, we have been learning about different sounds and spellings for ‘-ear’. We have been practising reading and spelling words with these sounds to become more confident readers.

In Writing, we have started learning about informative texts. We have been reading Walking in Gagudju Country and learning how authors share interesting facts and information. We have also been learning how to use words like and, but, and so to join ideas.

In Maths, we have been learning all about 2D shapes. We have been naming and sorting shapes and learning about their features, including sides, vertices and parallel sides. We have also been exploring regular and irregular polygons through lots of hands-on activities.

In Inquiry, we have been creating our exciting Mixed-Up Animals! We are learning about animal features and how they help animals survive. We have been designing our own mixed-up animals by combining features from different animals and creating habitats for them.
