SLA

What a fantastic and busy term it has been in SLA! From exciting adventures and hands-on discoveries to important conversations and new learning experiences, our students have been busy every step of the way. We are thrilled to share some of the highlights from this term, including the fun and worthwhile Snail Trail, our engaging Experiences in Science, a touch of divertimento in Italiano, and the valuable lessons explored during Bullying No Way Awareness Week.

Join us as we look back on some memorable moments

Archie – Italian Day

Last Thursday the whole school got to dress up in Italian clothes for Italian day. In the morning we had a parade in the hall. We also got to play soccer, watch a musical, and completed a booklet with Italian activities. It was the best day!

Zoi – Snail Trail

We participated in the snail trail this term and it was so much fun. I loved how Kate hid the snails around the school for us to find. The best part was that we won!!

Ayah – Science Incursion

On Friday two thoughtful ladies came and educated us about chemical science. We got to make bath bombs, we also got to learn about different types of experiments and how different chemicals react with each other by participating in a smell test and a taste test.

Sophie: Our incursion was interesting. I liked how the chemicals reacted to different substances and how we got to observe them and find out what would happen. I also enjoyed how we got to do quite a bit of hands-on experiments. One of my favourite experiments was the 'Foam Dome.'

Imogen:I really liked doing the science experiments and seeing how the chemicals react together and observing the changes. Science is really cool and I liked to see how things changed over time like we did with our Crystals experiment.

Christian: The Snail Trail was a great way to collect money to donate to the school of St Jude.  The money can help their community by allowing children to get an education and to have a better future.  It was also a fun way for us to sort the money, count it up, work out real maths problems using money and create our own snails before lining up the coins in the hall.

Isabella:I enjoyed our Bullying No Way day and how we got to wear purple.  The short videos were good to watch because they taught us effective messages.  I also liked the poster we made as a class on how we can stop bullying.

Leo K: I enjoyed how we get to do free activities and we are learning more about Italy. I think the pizza and ice cream was really good.
