STEM TERM ONE - 2026!
We have had a fun start to STEM for 2026! All grades have done a great job of learning and practising our new STEM routines and setting ourselves up for an exciting year ahead!
Our new prep students have had a chance to explore some different STEM resources including LEGO, playdough and different types of technology such as robots and computers. We have also started to think about the different areas of science and what a scientist does. Over the next few weeks we will learn about technology, how to be safe when using devices and how computers work, before moving onto the area of Earth Science later in the term.
The Grade 1 and 2 students have started this term by exploring how to be SAFE and RESPONSIBLE online by engaging in Cyber Safety Project lessons. We have discussed what the internet is and identified who our trusted adults are. We are excited to be using Chromebooks and practising some tech skills including how to take photos before learning about Earth and space later this term.
In Grade 3 and 4 students have worked through Cyber Safety Project activities to learn more about being online and how to show the values of RESPONSIBILITY, INTEGRITY, STRENGTH and EMPATHY. We have explored how we can make sure we are staying safe online by only connecting with people we know in real life. Our science unit this term will be Earth Science and we are looking forward to exploring rocks and minerals in the coming weeks.
Our Grade 5 and 6 students have also started with a Cyber Safety Project unit, discussing how to be a responsible online citizen and how to ensure we are creating a positive digital footprint. Our Science unit this term in Earth Science and we will be exploring our Solar System, Earth’s Orbit and Gravity.
We can’t wait for all the exciting learning, experiments and challenges that we have ahead of us this year in STEM!
