Swing Into Spring is back

The Marketing Subcommittee is very excited to announce the return of Swing into Spring, on Sunday 13th September, from 11.00am–4.00pm.

This year we’re moving to a Sunday, giving more members of our local community the opportunity to come through our gates, experience Collingwood College and celebrate everything that makes our school community special. We’re also very excited to begin the local school fete season!

Firstly, a huge thank you to Sasha Bell from Year 7, who created our incredible Swing into Spring poster. We have had so many wonderful comments about it already. Keep an eye out—you’ll soon see Sasha’s artwork popping up in shops, cafés and community spaces all around our local area. Please drop in and collect some flyers from the front office to share in your local area.

We need your help!

A fete of this size only happens with the support of our community, and there are lots of ways to get involved—even if you only have a few hours to spare.

We are currently collecting:

Pre-loved clothing for our Op Shop Stall
Pre-loved toys for our Prize Stall
Second Hand Books that might be ready for a new home
Old glass gems, marbles and other little treasures suitable for our Treasure Dig

So, if you’ve been waiting for an excuse to clear out the cupboards, this is it! Please consider donating your unwanted treasures to the school.

Closer to the day, we will also be calling for donations of cakes and sweets for our Cake Stall, as well as flowers and greenery to create our beautiful flower garlands.

Working Bee – Saturday 5th September

Our big pre-fete Working Bee will be held on Saturday 5th September from 12.00–4.00pm.

We would love as many families as possible to join us as we get the grounds looking beautiful and start preparing for the following weekend.

We will also need plenty of hands in the final days before the fete, particularly on the Saturday before the event, when we’ll be preparing pizzas, setting up stalls and transforming the school ready for Sunday.

And, of course, we need volunteers on the day. If your child’s class is running a stall, please consider volunteering for a shift. Even a couple of hours makes an enormous difference.

If you’re not currently attached to a class but would still like to help, please contact the Front Office. We have lots of jobs and would love to have you involved.

What’s happening at Swing into Spring?

There is already so much planned.

Our Side Garden Kids Area will be packed with activities for our younger visitors, including rock painting, the Kids Café, Treasure Dig, beaded bracelets, craft activities and plenty more.

Head around to the courtyard and you’ll find our International Food Festival. Some of our wonderful regulars from the Wednesday Market will be joining us, alongside Devonshire teas, wood-fired pizzas, a sausage sizzle, curries, coffee, chai and lots of other delicious food offerings.

Music and performance will be a huge part of the day. We are thrilled that our very own Annie-Rose Maloney will be performing on stage, as well as performances from our orchestras, instrumental music students and a variety of classes across the College. Stay tuned as we release the full musical running sheet closer to the event.

Throughout the day, All Stars Basketball and Melbourne Victory will be running activities and competitions, and we’re also very excited to be opening Mrs Pocket’s Doll’s House.

Who will brave the dunk machine?

We’re currently deciding which members of staff should take their chances in the Swing into Spring Dunk Machine.

Have a teacher you’d particularly like the opportunity to dunk? Nominations are very welcome at the Front Office!

A huge thank you to all of our staff, parents, carers and community members who are already planning, organising, donating and volunteering. We know this is an incredibly busy time of year, and we genuinely appreciate every contribution.

These big community events simply aren't possible without you.

So clean out those cupboards, save the dates, put your hand up for a shift—and start hoping for some beautiful spring weather!
